Get In TouchFrequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for a place in a Tenax Supports SIL home?
Discuss SIL at your NDIS planning meeting or plan review, supported by a functional capacity assessment from an occupational therapist. Once SIL is included in your plan, contact Tenax Supports directly or ask your support coordinator to arrange a compatibility discussion and, where possible, a home visit before you move in.
Does the SIL fee cover my rent?
No. SIL funds the support workers who assist with daily living inside the home, not rent or accommodation costs. Rent and everyday living costs are paid separately by the resident, often from the Disability Support Pension. Where a purpose-built home is needed, that is funded separately through Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).
Can I visit the home before deciding to move in?
Yes. We encourage prospective residents and their families to visit and meet current housemates and support staff before committing, so everyone can be confident it is the right fit.
Is Tenax Supports an NDIS-registered SIL provider?
Yes. Tenax Supports is registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, which has been a requirement for all Supported Independent Living providers since 1 July 2026.
Is public transport accessible from this home?
Yes. The Melbourne property is chosen for easy access to public transport, local shops, and healthcare providers, supporting residents' community participation goals.
