Does the SIL fee cover my rent?

No. SIL funds the support workers who assist with daily living inside the home, not rent or accommodation costs. Rent and everyday living costs are paid separately by the resident, often from the Disability Support Pension. Where a purpose-built home is needed, that is funded separately through Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

Is Tenax Supports an NDIS-registered SIL provider?

Yes. Tenax Supports is registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, which has been a requirement for all Supported Independent Living providers since 1 July 2026.

What does Supported Independent Living involve?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS-funded support to help you build daily living skills and live as independently as possible, whether in a shared home, family home, or purpose-built accommodation. Support can include help with cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication, and building social and life skills.
